Wally Byam

Region One Officers
President – Tye Mott
Tye MottHaving camped with my family since childhood, in 2006 I continued to follow my dream and purchased one of four Airstreams. My dream of fellowship and outdoors continues today in a recent purchase of a 1992 Airstream Excella 1000 34′.

When I purchased my first Airstream I became a member of the WBCCI and Cape Cod Mass Unit. As my nature, I threw myself into the Cape Cod Mass Unit by hosting rallies and helping other members maintain and address problems with their trailers. I gave seminars, also letting members know I was available to help and guide them at any time. These efforts resulted in becoming 1st Vice President of the Cape Cod Mass Unit (2010-2011); President of the Cape Code Mass Unit (2011-2012); Region 1, 2nd Vice President (2012-2014); Region 1, 1st Vice President (2014-2016); Region 1, President (2016-2018).

Throughout my involvement at Unit, Region, and International levels, I have acquired an understanding of teh focus of WBCCI and Airstream, Inc. overall. With that understanding, I have been able to share that momentum with fellow Airstreamers by my continued involvement in Unit and Region functions along with attending and working at International rallies. My involvement has been at the grass roots level with my main focus on the membership.

My Airstream dream not only encompasses my personal camping pleasures but also includes carrying forth the WBCCI historical perspective and to solidify its future. I believe as the President of Region 1, WBCCI helps fill my dreams and to facilitate the dreams of others now and in the future. Always keeping mind where WBCCI has been in the past and is presently. Listening to the membership, bringing forth their thoughts to the International leadership team, taking us into the future.

1st Vice President – Per Hamnqvist
Per HamnqvistI joined WBCCI in 1998 as we went from a tent to a 31 foot Airstream Classic trailer. I was first to join our unit over the “Internet”. I registered wbcci.org in 1998 and helped thrust WBCCI into the Internet era. I am active in the New England Unit and have held the positions of Unit Trustee, Unit Treasurer (5 years), Unit President (2 terms) and was also the first webmaster for Region 1.

Why do I volunteer my time as a Region officer? Because I have such a great time hanging out with my old and new Airstream buddies. Never a dull moment at a camp fire! I love this lifestyle for seeing North America and I know it takes a bit of work to keep the wheels turning. This is my way of continuing to chip in for the good cause. I gain most satisfaction in this role from seeing the event schedule and participation grow in our region. Let me know what I can do to help you and your unit.

2nd Vice President – Doug Hart
Doug HartIn my non Airstream life I am the President of Penobscot Investment Management Company in Boston. In my spare time I serve as the chair of the board of the Wildlands Trust in Plymouth, among largest land trusts in Massachusetts and I serve on a scientific committee that advises the president of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute on how to invest research funds. My interests are varied. I love to run and have run 11 marathons, ten in Boston and one in San Francisco. I also volunteer annually on a 100 mile mountain trail race in Silverton, Colorado. I am a ham radio operator and enjoy combining that hobby with Airstreaming.

I purchased my first Airstream in 2010, a 19’ Bambi. From there I went to a 25’ Airstream and now have a 2011 31’ Classic. Between working and playing in my Airstream I kept running out of room. I have served as the president of the New England Unit and look forward to doing more for the WBCCI because it does so much for me.
Why join WBCCI? There are many reasons:

  • Live life more fully with your Airstream and over 6500 others whose owners are “Living the Airstream Dream.”
  • Take advantage of weekend or week-long rallies, economical caravans through every corner of North America, and Airstream-only campgrounds in several states. WBCCI members are welcome to attend any unit’s rally or caravan across the United States and Canada.
  • Wherever you go, you are welcomed by friends and surrounded by members who know the ins-and-outs of Airstreams and life on the road and are always willing to share their knowledge and camaraderie.
