Region One News – November 2012

It seems like just yesterday we were all making camping plans for the season in front of us and now we are either getting ready for another New England winter or heading south. I have come to the conclusion that the better the camping season and the more rallies you attend, time just slips right on by. And this year has been no exception. From the upper provinces of Canada down to the Connecticut River somewhere on any given weekend, one of our regional units was holding a rally. For some of us the season isn’t fully over; there are a few Thanksgiving Rallies ahead and then of course a holiday party or two to attend but for the most part its time to reflect on the year.
It seems that we WBCCI folks are akin to our New England/Canadian wild life and we tend to hibernate for the winter. Might I suggest a few units hosting an indoor rally of sorts at your favorite watering hole? Just because you have winterized your wonderful Airstream doesn’t mean you too should be winterized and up on blocks! Perhaps hold a seminar with a lunch to share a hobby or other craft? You may be surprised how many of your fellow club members would love to try their hand at stained glass, weaving, a computer class or what have you. The concept of not seeing our Airstream friends during the non-camping months just doesn’t seem right. Good weather good friends? How about good friends all the year long?
By now everyone has moved into their new positions within their units and getting acquainted with their new rolls and obligations to their units. I want to thank all of the outgoing presidents for a great year and a big thank you for all your hard work. There is a lot to be said about the rewards of being an officer in a WBCCI unit, yes there is a bit of extra work, a few more details to be paid attention to but in the end it’s still doing what we like the most, camping with our friends. To all my WBCCI friends, thank you for another great season and we all look forward to our first rally of 2013, “Go Fly A Kite”, April 19th, 2013 at Coastal Acres, Provincetown, MA.
